Now you can finally see all the booked rooms on a convenient screen at the lounge! It also tells a story about the Ostrobothnian concept of "råklas" (and "kråtas" and do I even dare say sustainability)
In Ostrobothnia we are frugal. Sometimes a bit cheap, even.
Next to the screen are the remains of an old Chromebook with a "blazing" 1.7GHz ARMv7 processor, donated to NIC (thanks Jimmy Nymark)
It's too old and slow to do basically anything productive. Until we found a use for it. Showing our room bookings on the wall!
After removing basically everything but the motherboard and screen, showing a simple HTML file, it does exactly the same thing as a pricy purpose-built device.
Sure, the screen is a bit low-res and the viewing angles are definitely not the best, but it does the trick. Why throw it away, when it can have a new use? After a bit of råklas and kråtas, of course.
Thanks to our intern from Optima who helped get this started!
